A man cannot learn this by running away, by shunning things and shutting himself up in an external solitude; but he must practice a solitude of the spirit, wherever or with whomever he is. He must learn to break through things and to grasp his God in them and to form Him in himself powerfully in an essential manner. This is like someone who wants to learn to write. If he is to acquire the art, he must certainly practice it hard and long, however disagreeable and difficult this may be for him and however impossible it may seem. If he will practice it industriously and assiduously, he learns it and masters the art.

I have found You, God, beyond God - or, rather, you have found me beyond Yourself. Therefore, I have 'seen' nothing can be said of this most simple, most profound Knowing. Hence, to 'see' is to know and to know is to 'see,' in and beyond form and formlessness, as in Love transcending Love, eternally.

A seeker, seeking the gift of mystical contemplation, visited a Master. The seeker inquired, “Master, please tell me of your visions.” The Master replied, “I have had none.” Stunned, the seeker asked, “Master, please tell me of your trances.” “I have had no trance,” said the Master. “The seeker,” dumbfounded, inquired, “Master, tell me of the voices you hear.” The Master, again befuddling the seeker, spoke, “I have never heard even one voice.” The seeker spoke, “And what of your raptures?” “I,” said the Master, “have not had a single moment of rapture?” The seeker, disappointed, said to the Master, "I came a long way thinking you had the gift of mystical contemplation, but I see that you are not what I was told.” “No,” replied the Master, “I must not be what you were told.”
